English Turn Golf & Country Club
About
English Turn Golf & Country Club is a Jack Nicklaus design that was crafted in 1988 to host the New Orleans PGA Tour event. Nicklaus designed the course to be enjoyed equally by spectators and golfers, incorporating gallery berms and spectator mounds throughout. This challenging design is known for its undulating greens that will test even the most seasoned players. Each hole has a unique design that combines strategically placed bunkers, including large waste bunkers, and sloping grass swales. There is also carefully sculpted mounding along the edges of the fairways. On top of that, water comes into play on nearly every hole. English Turn's signature hole, the 15th, is a tricky par 5 with an island green but it's the final hole, a par 4 with water all along the left side, that is rumored to be the golf course's toughest.

Excellent course
First time playing this course and it did not disappoint. Water comes into play on nearly every hole and there were a lot more bunkers than I’m used to but it still didn’t feel like an unfair design. The course itself was in great shape. Fairways were awesome and the greens were fast and well kept. The starter, Mr James is very efficient at keeping people paired properly and his course info is epic! Slightly slow play but considering it was the day after Easter and the weather was perfect that was to be expected. Would love to play this beauty again.
Great track
Tough, fun course in excellent shape. Very nice people working there. I'll be back
Close to NOLA, good, and not overly expensive
Good track, convenient to downtown. Pretty generous off the tee, but with water on 17 of 18 holes. Approaches are more demanding and greens are tough. No gps in carts and plenty of hazards; a handheld gps is helpful to see hole layouts. I got a reduced green fee because I was a single and the particular tee time only had room for one player.
Great course with great staff
Great course close to downtown New Orleans! James the starter was very friendly and helpful
Glad to see it back.
Was apprehensive as I haven’t played English Turn in years during some bad times. The current management has turned the course around and it was in fantastic shape. Every bunker and waste bunker freshly raked. Greens were back to their original shape and size. Greens were top-dressed but rolled pure and fast. It was well worth the weekend rate. Only negative is the halfway house was closed due to lack of staffing. Will be back very very soon.
Cold Windy day
It was cold and windy but a nice day of golf. The greens were fast but I like it like that. Staff were awesome. Pace of play was great and I was a single. Playing behind several 3/4somes.
Perfect course for a grest day of golf. Starter was well versed in how to play specific holes and course amenities. First time playing and we will play it again on next trip.
Great track
Great layout with tricky greens which were firm and true. Good pace of play. Everything top quality.
Hot and Windy Round of Golf
An already difficult course was made even more challenging by a very stiff wind. Course was still in great shape, although the greens were super fast like usual. Not too many people playing out there, so I really enjoyed that part of it. It's a great course, just wish it was a little closer to civilization.
Very enjoyable
Easily playable for all levels of experience. Small greens are an inconvenience but only a distraction to a wonderful layout..
Love it!
Course was in great shape, greens are very small, challenging, but roll true. If James is your starter, lucky you! Staff is very friendly.
Top notch
First time playing English Turn, we play TPC frequently. It’s obvious that English Turn used to be on the PGA tour (Zürich) as it is in immaculate shape and very challenging. From the moment of arrival everyone was a pleasure to deal with, inviting, helpful, and friendly. The Marshall was super nice and knowledgeable, and upon learning our first time there, gave us a great run down on the layout and what to expect. Even insisted he snap a quick pic for us.
Cart girl came around often, but not hovering, and she was super friendly. Super fun course with lots of water, plenty of bunkers, and some extremely challenging contours to the greens.
Overall, IMHO, one of the Top 3 courses in New Orleans.
If coming to NOLA, and can only play one course, this is the one! 5 out of 5 stars.
Slow play
Fivesome playing before 11:00 am had the course backed up the whole day.
